The actress will play Pick, who returns to her Texas hometown to look into the murder of her younger sister.
Actress Rosario Dawson is set to give classic crime thriller Briarpatch a gender-bending twist by taking on the lead role for an upcoming TV adaptation.
Author Ross Thomas’ original 1984 novel centred on the life of investigator Ben Dill, but for the small screen version, the character has been turned into a woman, Allegra ‘Pick’ Dill.
Rosario will star as Pick, who returns to her Texas hometown to look into the murder of her younger sister, a homicide detective, after she is killed by a car bomb.
The pilot, on which the Luke Cage actress will also serve as a producer, will be made for the USA Network.
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and Andy Greenwald, who adapted Briarpatch for TV, will be among the executive producers of the show, reports The Wrap.
